Getting Started
Chapter is a game built around one question: what kind of life do you actually want? Instead of scrolling through lists, you create a character and explore a world of zones, uncovering courses, apprenticeships and careers, meeting AI guides, and unlocking real tools that help you plan your future.
Create a free account, build your character, and you'll drop straight into the world. Early quests show you the ropes, but there's no right way to play. Wander into any zone, enter a building, and start exploring whatever you're curious about.
You can play in your browser on the web, or on iPhone and iPad through the App Store. Android is on the way, so follow our channels for updates.
Yes. A free account saves your character, progress, coins, skills and chats so they follow you across devices.
Chapter World & Gameplay
Chapter World is split into zones, each focused on a part of your journey: finding a university, discovering careers, sorting your finances, planning a gap year, going international, and an arcade full of mini-games. Walk in, enter buildings, and use the tools inside.
You earn XP and coins by completing quests, exploring zones, and playing mini-games. XP levels you up and powers the leaderboards; coins are spent on customising your character, pet and dorm.
Quests are guided missions that walk you through the world step by step, from your very first steps to deeper career and university exploration. NPC guides set them and reward you with XP and coins when you finish.
Yes. Style your character in the wardrobe, adopt a pet that follows you around the world, and decorate your own dorm. Spend the coins you earn to unlock more options.
You'll see other students exploring the world in real time, so you can chat, send emotes, and visit each other's dorms.
The world grows with you. Once you're an offer holder, new tools unlock to help you prepare: accommodation, society matching, course prep, and a move-in checklist for your specific university.
AI Guides & NPCs
Friendly, AI-powered characters live across the zones, each with their own specialty. Chappy helps with careers, while others guide you through finances, personal statements, CVs, universities and more. Walk up and chat with any of them whenever you need a hand.
Ask them anything in plain English and they'll respond based on where you are in your journey. They can suggest careers, explain costs, review your CV or personal statement, and point you to the right tool for what you're trying to do.
Yes. You can share files like CVs and personal statements to get feedback. These are processed by our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a response. Avoid uploading anything sensitive you wouldn't want an AI to see, or documents containing other people's personal details without their consent.
The guides are a great starting point, but AI responses can sometimes be incomplete or wrong. Always double-check anything important (entry requirements, deadlines, finance) against official sources before you act on it.
Courses, Careers & Apprenticeships
Tell the course tools your interests and grades, then swipe through matched courses with clear pros and cons, drawn from real UK course data. It's built to surface options that genuinely fit you.
Yes. Stack courses side by side, and use the cost tools to estimate tuition and living costs by city, including a separate calculator for international student fees.
Definitely. University is only one path. You can explore live apprenticeships by level and route, and track the ones you're interested in right alongside your course options.
Yes. The career tools include a CV builder, a personal statement coach that gives feedback as you write, and AI mock interviews that respond to your answers in real time.
Take the career quiz and try the 'day in the life' simulations to explore what different roles actually feel like, then build a pathway from where you are now to where you want to end up.
Skills & Progress
As you play and complete quests you build 8 real-world skills, like ambition, resilience, leadership, communication and creativity, that matter for university, work and life.
Pick the world that suits you: raise creatures, build districts, or grow a garden. They all track the same 8 skills; it's just about which style of progress you enjoy most.
Yes. The skills you build and the evidence behind them can be exported to help strengthen your CV and applications.
The XP you earn ranks you against other players and, where it's enabled, puts your school in friendly competition with others. Rankings update regularly.
Account & Billing
Yes. Chapter is free to play. If we ever introduce paid extras in future, the core experience and your progress will stay free.
Yes. Sign in on the web or on iOS and your character, coins, XP, skills and chats all follow you to whichever device you're on.
Open your account settings to update your email and request a fresh verification link. If you can't get in at all, email us and we'll help sort it out.
Privacy & Safety
We only collect what we need to run the game and improve your experience, and we never sell your personal data. Our Privacy Policy has the full details and your controls.
Your NPC chats and any files you upload are stored in your account so you can pick up where you left off, and they're processed by our AI provider to generate replies. You can delete individual sessions in-app at any time. See the Privacy Policy for retention details.
We moderate the world and its chats and act on reports of harmful behaviour. As always, don't share personal details with people you don't know, in-game or anywhere else.
Use our public delete-account page, or, if you can still sign in, delete your account from inside Chapter. If you can't access your account, email us with the subject 'Data deletion request' and we'll confirm once it's done.
Troubleshooting
Refresh or relaunch first, and make sure you're signed in and on the latest version. If it still won't load, email us with what happened and your device/browser so we can dig in.
Chapter World is a rich, animated world. Closing other tabs or apps, updating to the latest version, and a stronger connection all help it run smoothly.
Make sure you're signed in to the same account; progress occasionally needs a moment to sync after you finish something. If anything still looks missing after that, email us and we'll take a look.
Check your spam and junk folders, then request a fresh verification link from your account settings. If you mistyped your email, you can correct it there too.
